How wrong could I be?!! The existing webcam a Philips SPC900NC/00 is listed as being compatible with Windows 8.1 according to Microsoft, even though the Philips website does not list drivers explicitly for Windows 8.1, but I did find that Microsoft provides the Philips drivers so it should automatically detect and install. So I just installed a new computer for a family member – a very vanilla installation of Windows 8.1 and the main request for was Skyping Spanish family – easy enough I thought.
